DSCF1172SO….I was craving pizza, as most of us do.  I am tired of paying extra to get a gluten free pizza and I am also tired of having to go 45 minutes away to get to a place that offers gluten free pizza…and to tell the truth….they’re not all that great anyway!  I have tried quite a few different gluten free pizza crust recipes and mixes…never found one that I really liked.  Some are too grainy, some don’t cook properly and then you have the ones that just taste terrible!

I have been using the gluten free Bisquick to make biscuits for awhile and they taste pretty good.  They are easy to make and they are the closest thing I can find to a good biscuit.  So..on the side of the box is the recipe to make pizza dough.  I saw it awhile ago, but never tried it….I think I was tired of trying and being disappointed.  Then my mother calls me and tells me she tried it…and I have to try it…she tells it was awesome.

So…I tried it…I have to admit….VERY good!  It was great!  My father-in-law, husband and kids all said they thought it was great!  It almost tastes like a biscuit with pizza toppings.  It’s not grainy and it cooks properly and gets nice a crispy.  I did one on a pizza stone and the other on a pizza pan.  I wanted to see if it made any difference….the answer is no!  It came out the exact same!  So, if you don’t have a pizza stone…don’t worry about it…don’t spend the extra money…it’s not worth it.

The best part about this…you can buy the Bisquick at Walmart…you don’t have to go to a health food store.  You can even buy the Walmart brand pizza sauce and all the toppings at Walmart…so…it makes the pizza cheap!  I made 2 pizza’s for under $10!

So..give a try and let me know how you like it!!

Happy cooking!!

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the comparison between the pizza stone and the pan. I've also tried the crust.  When I made it I thought it was pretty awesome too. It's very easy to make and the gf bisquick is sold everywhere.

The crust does remind me of a biscuit texture just like you said.  I'll add by saying I even noticed an underlying sweetness in the crust.  That could be attributed to the sugar in the gf bisquick mix.  I keep thinking that this would make a fantastic  breakfast pizza of some sort too.

So happy you tried the pizza with the Bisquick.  I make biscuits with it lots.  I also add a little baking powder in mine and they are even lighter and better.  Give it a try!

I just made this pizza crust with the gf bisquick. It was ok, not as good as the red mill, maybe a little easier to make. Wondering if I used less oil than recommended if I would like it better. I will try 1/4 C oil next time.
